Self portrait

Finally my last large scale portrait is finished. around 70+ hours of work as the others .

Left side of the drawing is completely covered with color, there is no paper. Its just hard to see it here on the photo. There is a light layer of color pencils and tattoo color. ( that is also the only place i used tattoo color in the whole drawing, just because its easier/faster to get a light texture ) Also the whole drawing was with color pencils, i tried to restrict my self on that.

Here is the large portrait of my father :…

Here is the large portrait of my mother…

Here is the large portrait of my grandfather…

Here is the large portrait of my grandmother…

All the materials a used to this are from Derwent

So il take a break from the large scale work for a month or so and then next year i will continue on something that will be even more challenging and technical to do.

Really random, but how bad does it hurt to get a tattoo?
SweetMintyCho Jan 30, 2014  Hobbyist General Artist
Depends on the place. I heard that the area on your stomach and neck are the worst. I only got one on my back, it wasn't so bad, kind of uncomfortable. Oh, and the size matters too.
But I can't say that it's the same for everyone. Each of us handles pain differently.

Reason I'm asking is when I get older I plan to get a full back tattoo.
People say it will hurt because it will be on my spine.

It will hurt regardless the place you get it on, you're pretty much getting ink put into your skin by a needle. It's true that the places where the bone is closer to the skin hurt more, but like I said before, it's different for everyone. It all depends on how you handle pain.
When I was about to get mine, I was nervous about it being abnormally painful, when in actuality, it wasn't that bad. It was unpleasant, felt a bit hot against the skin, but nothing drastic. You'll feel something like a dull pain for about three days after, depending on the size of the tattoo, after which you won't even bother to remember the pain. So don't worry!
